New Premium Coloured Tyre Belts Added
Always popular, I have just added three coloured tyre belts to the premium belts section. They are made from lightweight racing tyres are are 27mm wide.
Each tyre is cut, washed and handcrafted into a belt by me at my workshop in rural Northumberland, UK.
They come in many widths and styles - simply choose the exact belt you want. They make the perfect gift for cyclists.
Limited premium tyre belts are also available which are often coloured or have the tyre's logo made into the securing loop.

It just occurred to me that many people may be using the word tire rather than tyre when searching for belts. Tire is the American spelling of tyre, which is the English spelling although they are often both used here in the UK. Whether you are looking for a tire belt or a tyre belt, I have both here!

More premium tyre belts have been added which I hope will catch the eye of bike enthusiasts or anyone looking for a gift for a cyclist. There are belts made from Hutchinson, Panaracer and Specialized tyres including a snazzy yellow one!
I’ve also improved the photos on the site to better show the latest styles of standard belts I am making. I know have new sources for used tyres and hope to have a regular selection of individual belts available.

Tyrebelt is constantly on the lookout for old tyres from which to make more belts. If you have any and would like to have a clear eco-conscience rather than letting them end up in landfill then please get in touch. If you post them to us we are happy to reimburse you for your trouble. Please contact us before sending though as not all tyres are suitable.

If you have a favourite old bike tyre you can now send it to Tyrebelt.co.uk and have it made into a belt!
Perhaps it has sentimental value, carried you on a once in a lifetime tour, or belonged to one of your children. Maybe it is just a fantastic tyre and you can’t bear to have it end up in landfill.
Just send it to Tyrebelt and it will be carefully cut, cleaned and made into a belt so you can keep your tyre as a stylish and functional item for ever.
Not all tyres are suitable for belt making. Slick or traditional road/touring tread tyres are usually OK but please check with us first if the tyre has a very knobbly tread pattern.
You will have to post the the tyre to us. They can be twisted into a figure of eight, folded over on themselves, and tied up before being placed into a strong bag or box for posting.

As well as the usual range of knobbly and smooth standard tyre belts available I have just added a selection of some superb quality belts to the premium section. Included are a pair of unusual dual blue stripe belts made from racing tyres and a lovely pair of studded belts made from Panaracer Speedblasters. The single Specialized Enduro tyre belt is also a top quality example of what can be created from a high-end branded cycle tyres.

Tyre belts make the perfect Christmas gift for discerning and hard to buy for friends and relatives.
Unlike a useless novelty gift imported from China and made by poorly paid labourers a tyre belt made from a recycled bike tyre has a very low carbon footprint and demonstrates your commitment to green and ethical purchasing as well as being a useful and interesting present.

I have discovered other tyre belts available online. I thought my idea was unique and I was unaware of the existence of these other manufacturers until I researched the possibility of selling my belts. It is perfectly possible for several people to have the same idea independently.
I do know that my belts are cheaper and of at least equal quality, if not better.
The main outlet for belts online seems to be Howies, the very cool ethical clothing makers. Howies’ belts are not made by themselves but by Velo-Re.
Unlike the Howies belts, I use the tyre’s sidewall to make the belt’s securing loop whereas the Howies belts use a section of the main tread which is wider and chunkier. It is a matter of personal choice which you prefer.
I believe I offer a better choice of belts: 4 different types of standard belt plus the opportunity to buy a specific premium belt individually. Decide for yourself by viewing my Online Shop

I have been selling these belts on ebay for some time now and they have been well received by people who have bought them. Selling on ebay is a hit and miss affair though and rather expensive so I have created this site as a better way to promote them.
I still often have belts listed on ebay - my ebay id is dunc9ql if you want to have a look or check my feedback.
